An agreed boundary is a boundary that is chosen by the owners of adjacent land where the property line is in dispute or where the true property line is not easily ascertained due to man-made or natural causes. A good example of this arises often when new neighbors move into a home. Some agreements that may have been handshake agreements pertaining to fences, trees or other structures, may no longer be to the liking of the new home owners. Much of the time these disputes can be fixed with an agreed boundary settlement. There are some instances when after a certain statute of limitations has expired, the agreed boundary may actually become the new property line.
